Campo de altitude, this species seen as high as 2370 m at the encampment, growing mixed with C. pinifolia, both very common.

Description
Culms to 1 cm diam., to 2-3 m tall, culms erect at base, arching, branches ascending. One culm found in flower. Branching intravaginal; all branches developing simultaneously. Young internodes waxy. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
