    On south-facing slope. With Juniperus, Pinus, Purshia, Artemisia & Ephedra. In sandstone/clay soil.

  • Description

    Perennials from simple caudices; leaves & fruits with stellate trichomes, the trichome rays appressed & slightly fused proximally; petals yellow; styles 4-7 mm long; fruiting pedicels sigmoid-ascending; fruits strongly inflated, only the upper sinuses prominent; fruit valves somewhat angular (but not strongly flattened), with scattered stellate trichomes on the inner surfaces; repla narrowly oblong, to 3.5 mm long, with funicles restricted to the apex; ovules usually 2 per locule. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
