Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic midpoint of Belém-Brasilia road between the cities of Porangatu and Uruaçu, in Mun. Mara Rosa, Goiás. Used Google Maps - Earth View to locate the roads which directly connects Belém, Pará in the north with Brasilia, Federal District in the south. This route begins at the beginning of road BR-316 in Belém, then connects to roads BR-010 and BR-153, which lead south to Brasilia. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to measure a straight line between the location where BR-153 comes closest to the approximate geographic center of the city of Porangatu (intersection of BR-153 and GO-244) and the location where BR-153 comes closest to the approximate geographic center of the city of Uruaçu (intersection of BR-153 and Av. Weimar Barroso), then halved this distance to find the midpoint of the line. Chose a point along BR-153 nearest to the midpoint of the line; used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the midpoint of this route. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool again to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of this selection of road. Input coordinates, linear extent (60540.0 m), and measurement error (10 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
