With water-worn, horizontally-bedded sandstone at soil surface, with damp sand, sedge marsh, exposed rock and waterfall. Vegetation: open scrub to closed low woodland in the drier areas.

Succulent herb with viscid white latex and many grey-green, often purple tinged stems from single stout taproot. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
