On rimrock on upper slope of mountain in sage-steppe. With Artemisia tridentata ssp. wyomingensis, Lomatium triternatum, Bromus tectorum, Festuca idahoensis, Pseudoroegneria spicata. Scarce.

Plant 30 cm tall; woody-based shrub with many stems; flowers yellow, buds red. Phenology of specimen: Fertile, Flower.
