  • Description

    large tree, 4--4.5 feet diam. Cultivated in Pinus section of main Pinetum. An original wild collection by Dr. Child Fricks (noted paleontologist), who traveled to the Shui-Sha Valley (Metasequois area), NW Hupeh, China, in 1948, with collecting team from Arnold Arboretum on the first collecting expedition of Metasequoia glyptostroboides Hu et Cheng. A large tree in the arboretum in Roslyn, the trunl ca. 4--4.5 feet in diameter or more. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
