N-facing slope with deep loam soil derived from granite. Grassy slope dominated by Bromus diandrus, formerly coastal sage scrub.

Several blue-flowered shrubs in one small area, most plants apparently dead, perhaps due to frost or drought. Those still alive vigorous. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
