Habitat
N-NE exposure, in shade of rocks and forest, receiving perhaps 0-2 hrs. sun/day this time of year. Mature spruce, aspen, white pine woods. With Pteridium, Geranium, Rubus parviflorus, Thalictrum, Epilobium, Oxalis as immediate associates. Soil pockets and shallow soil on basaltic rock outcrop; soil richly organic, derived primarily from leaf-fall.

Corolla violet; leaves slightly fleshy. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fertile, Fruit.
