Habitat
Large grassy field, mowed once a year to keep it open, but otherwise not managed. With some weedy herbs such as Centaurea dubia, but mostly dominated by Tridens flavus, with several very large areas dominated by Sorghastrum nutans or Schizachyrium scoparium.

Description
Perennial herb. Stems rather weak. Corolla nodding, violet, about as dark a color as I have seen in this species. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fertile, Fruit.
