Note: ! M. Nee, 8 Jan 1977, "The fruits of this collection at NY and F seem by their yellow color and lustrous shine to be ripe, but are quite "atypical" in form for the species because of their small size and even taper to the sharp pointed tip. However, I saw in July 15, 1976, a plant of this species cultivated at the University of Birmingham, England (from seeds collected by T. Plowman in Ecuador, Prov. Napo, km. 24 W of Lago Agrio, in houseyard, in 1974) which had the "normal" fruits with apical mammillae and the five basal protuberances growing from the lower part of the plant and small fruits, exactly the counterparts of these, on the upper part of the same [underlined] plant."
