Mexico. Quintana Roo. Mpio. Lazaro Cardenas. El Eden Reserve, c. 30 mi. NW of Cancun. Field station "La Sabana" near center of Reserve. In the sabana, S of the main (E-W) trail.

Habitat
Selva mediana subperen., largely undisturbed forest; sabana periodically inundated; relatively open canopy & shorter trees than adjacent selva. W/ Manilkara zapota, Bursera simarouba, Castilla elastica, many epiphytes; sedges, rushes, cattails & palms abundant. Fairly common. Limestone substrate; soil very thin & rocky.

Perennial, ca. 1.5-2 m high. Fls. white w/yellow stamens. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
