Habitat
WSW-facing slopes. [This species] at bases of cliffs along ridgetop area. With Pseudotsuga, Abies, Pinus strobiformis and Quercus, and rocky cliffs along ridgetop with above trees plus Cupressus, Cornus, Salix (paradoxa?). Rhyolitic.

Description
Tree, to 3 m. high. Shrubby tree, to 3 m., much branched at base; flower scales green, anthers yellow. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
