  • Habitat

    Growing in sand just above running stream in mountains and doing especially well in humus and shade at base of trees. Moist forest with Pharus latifolius. Only common locally, otherwise the plants are scattered and appear to be rare.

    Inflorescence borne under reduced terminal blade of leaf complement or beneath low basal leaves that are purplish beneath.
