Restinga arborea, densa. Alt. sea level. Multiple-stemmed shrub to small tree, 24 m,, max. stem width 2 cm., bark brownish-greyf marked like a sandbank after tidal retreat! Leaves semi-coriaceous, dark-bottle-green, fractionally paler below; flowers strongly and sweetly perfumed, inflorescence rachis pale-green, buds greenish-yellow with a tinge of blue, stamens virgin-white, reflexed sepals yellowish-green. Two larger basal stamens and cluster of smaller upper stamens give flower a distinct zygomorphy; young fruits mid-green, globose to semi-globose, hard, one or two seeded. G.P.
