Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the center of the hospedaria building complex located within the Comissão Executiva do Plano da Lavoura Cacaueira (CEPLAC/CEPEC) research compound, near the city of Itabuna, in Mun. Ilhéus, Bahia. Using Google Maps - Satellite View and Distance Measurement Tool, located the CEPLAC/CEPEC research station by measuring 22 km along road 415 from the approximate geographic center of the city of Ilhéus towards the city of Itabuna. Verified the location of the complex using Wikimapia, Google Maps - Street View, and personal communication with Dr. William Wayt Thomas (NYBG). Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find coordinates for the approximate geographic center of the hospedaria building complex [Dr. William Wayt Thomas (NYBG) assisted with this interpretation of the locality description]. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to approximate the linear extent by measuring from the chosen coordinates to the farthest extent of the hospedaria building complex, and their surrounding lawns. Input coordinates, linear extent (108.701 m), and measurement error (0.001) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Bounded Area).
