Semi-desert grassland. Associated spp: Elymus elymoides, Quercus turbinella, Yucca baccata, Juniperus, Mimosa aculeaticarpa biuncifera, Opuntia engelmannii, O. phaecantha, Melampodium leucanthum, Berberis haematocarpa, Bouteloua eriopoda, Ceanothus greggii.
