Bolivia. Santa Cruz. Ñuflo de Chávez Prov. 15 km. (by air) E of San Javier on road to Concepcion, ca. 3 km. E of (now dry) Rio Salado.

Habitat
Secondary growth, former medium semi-deciduous forest on rolling topography, over granite of Precambrian shield. Rare here but common in first few km. E of San Javier.

Description
Shrub 4 m. tall, 8 cm. in diameter; crown spreading; trunk and lower branches with sharp, broad-based spines; wood soft, white. Fruit green, globose; calyx swollen at base of fruit. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
