Gentle N-facing slope. With Chrysothamnus, Artemisia, pinyon, juniper, Agropyron. Pale gray-tan shaley sandstone clay.

Matted, mats to ca. 2 dm across; corolla deep blue-violet, paler within. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
