Habitat
Tropical atoll consisting of 46 small islands surrounding a 5 mile wide lagoon. Most islands uninhabited but all planted with coconut. Typical Pacific beach strand/littoral forest vegetation mixed with agroforest trees (coconut, breadfruit).

Description
herb to 20 cm; Purple flowers; no stem; fleshy aromatic leaves; root a bulb; appears to be naturalized in understory of agroforest/home gardens.
