Particular to forest edges and shrubby second growth areas. Temperate cloud forest [from label]. "Not in the tropics!!!" [in response to habitat description.]; "Who's writing these silly comments?" [in response to previous comment.]. With Escallonia, Miconia, large Tibouchina and Weinmannia common of forest edges. Abundant.

Small ca. 3 m tree with trunk to 2" diam.; flowers white. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fertile.
