Habitat
Mixed forest. With Vriola michelii, Emmotum sp., Goupia glabra, Enterolobium sp. (Devil's ear), Couratari guianensis, Chlorocardium rodiei. On brown sand.

Description
Tree, 35 m tall x 35 cm above buttresses. Buttresses (0.4)1.5-2.5 x 0.4-1.5 x 0.05 m. Bark red-brown to dark brown, cracked, lenticellate, scaly on few places. Cracks vertical, 1-10 x 0.1-0.2 cm. Lenticels round to elongate, 1-3 x 1-1.5 mm, scattered or in vertical rows (finally forming cracks). Scales rectangular to irregular, thin-papery, 1-5 x 1-2 x 0.1 cm. Dead bark 2-layered, outer 0.5 mm black, inner 1-2 mm light brown, Living bark light pink-brown, 5 mm thick, very fibrous, easily peeling, with strong linseed oil scent. Sapwood light brown. Leaves yellow-brown below. Fruits green, brown-lenticellate. Lid dark brown with light brown lenticels. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
