Habitat
Low, open canopy ridgetop cloud forest. Low, open canopy (4-6 m). Heavy rainfall ( 400+ in/yr); vegetation dominated by small trees and shrubs (Pandanus patina, Glochidion, Garcina) covered in epiphytic ferns and mosses. Very shallow soil.

Description
Small tree, 3 m tall, flowers 0.5 cm, perianth 2 series, 4 parts each, 4 stamens alternate with petals; gynecium green, spherical, calyx green, reduced. Leaves alternate, petioles dark red/brown wtih prominent rib on underside.
