Habitat
Low, open canopy ridgetop cloud forest. Low canopy (4-6 m). Heavy rainfall (400+ in/yr). Vegeation dominated by small trees and shrubs (Pandanus patina, Glochidion, Garcinia) covered in epiphytic ferns and mosses, very shallow soil.

Description
Small tree, 3-4 m tall, Flowers bisexual, actinomorphic, 3 cm across, red corolla, orange near petal tips, 5 petals, 5 stamens, flowers in bunches, laterally along stem, scentless, leaves opposite, glabrous, thick.
