Ecuador. Los Ríos. Near Río Palenque Biological Station, between river and Pan Am Highway to Santo Domingo de Los Colorados, 54 km N of Quevedo (halfway between Quevedo and Santo Domingo).

Habitat
In full sun where trees were felled along paths. Locally last remnant (ca 100 hectares) of virgin, mature, wet tropical rain forest on Pacific slope of Andes. Canopy ca 40-50 m. Now in "dry" season (drizzle every day). On slopes and ridges. Many palms in understory, Moraceae dominant.
