    Mostly in moister places. Vegetation on steep eroded dry grassy slopes of coarse gravel. Dominated by Stipa, Baccharis and, in places, Lupinus. Common.

    Shrub 1 m. tall; leaves glossy, of a dull green color; flowers violet, fruit black when ripe. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
