Habitat
Shade, damp, red clay rocky slides between stone walls near river shore. Not common.

Description
Flowers white. Covered with ants. 3 ft. high, woody herb. Numerous brown scales attracting innumerable big red ants. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fertile.
