  • Description

    Stem solitary, repent for 1 m and aerial for 1 m, covered with persistent leaf sheaths. Leaves 20; sheath open, ca 40 cm long, very fibrous on margins; petiole 1.7 m long, with recurved spines on margins; rachis 4.8 m long; pinnae 85 per side, regularly arranged and spreading in one plane, pendulous at apices. Infructescences and inflorescences persistent amongst the decaying leaf sheaths; male and female inflorescences on same tree; fruits orange-yellow. Eophylls entire.
