Cultivated slopes with disturbed brushy cloud forest. With Alnus acuminata ssp. acuminata.

Description
Erect shrubs 1.5-2 m. tall; young stems densely spiny with golden spines; old plants to 3 m. tall and very different in aspect. Leaves green above, greenish white beneath. Corolla face vertical to nodding or hanging; flowers buzzed by bees. Corolla blue-violet, variable in color from plant to plant, rarely to nearly white. Fruit green. Phenology of specimen: Sterile.
