Alexander: "Palmer 98 from 1877 is the herbaceous Dalea mollissima. Palmer 99 is the shrubby "Dalea johnsonii" as originally distributed or Psorothamnus fremontii as now det. This specimen is either labeled incorrectly or the data is entered erroneously."
