  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Interpreted locality to be where BR-319 meets shore of Careiro Da Varzea, which is approximately where the ferry terminal (connecting BR-319) appears to be. This site is approximately 19 km. south east of the city center of Manaus, agreeing with locality description. Georeferenced to what appears to be a ferry terminal or dock at the start of BR-319 in Careiro Da Varzea. Using Google Maps, located the location of ferry terminal in Careiro Da Varzea along the Rio Amazonas/Rio Solimões (at the start of BR-319). Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find coordinates. Used measurement tool (Google Maps) to measure from coordinates to the extent of what appear to be boat docks along the shoreline to the west, used as linear extent. Input coordinates, linear extent (689.205 m.), and measurement error (.001 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Bounded Area).
