  • Description

    Tree, 40 m x 120 cm above buttresses. Buttresses well-developed, to 2 m tall x 55 cm wide. Bark shallowly but conspicuously vertically fissured, the slash with outer bark 5 mm thick, the inner bark 10 mm thick, reddish. Leaves discolor, the adaxial surface dark green, the abaxial surface light green. With distinctive longitudinal lines on leaf blade caused by enrolled vernation. Scarlet macaws in tree opening fruits to eat seed, most of fruits fall to ground without being eaten. Near 1150 meters on Plataforma Trail, ca. 20 m E from trail at this point.
