Brazil. Rondônia. Rondonia: collected from the Urueu-wau-wau Indians from around Alta Lidia. Seeds or seedlings were then brought to Goiania in Goias and planted in the backyard of J. von Puttkamer.

Description
The bark of this plant provides an extract used by these Indians to make an arrow poison. The poison is an anticoagulant. Merck has experimentally shown that the extract has anticoagulant properties. Phenology of specimen: Flower.

collected from the Urueu-wau-wau Indians from around Alta Lidia. Seeds or seedlings were then brought to Goiania in Goias and planted in the backyard of J. von Puttkamer. Specimens gathered by J. von Puttkamer and Ellen Simpson (of Merck) in February 1989.
