Cultivated ornamental street tree, 5 m. tall; trunk
swollen; trunk and branches green, covered with sharp
conical spines. Only very rarely seen blooming at this
time, a common ornamental in the city but blooming season
normally begins in April at beginning of dry season.
Flowers fragrant, when first open light yellow, especially
in the center and only the stigma pink; flowers later
white with light brown at base of petals. Nom. vulg.;
"toborochi"•
