  • Description

    Tree, ca 20m high, dbh ca 20cm. Base somewhat swollen. Bark reddish brown when young, turning blackish brown later on, flaky, lenticellate. Flakes vertically oriented, 5-30 x 1-5cm, papery. Lenticels rounds (ca 1-2mm diam) or elongate (ca 1-2 x 2-5mm), vertically arranged in irregular rows. Inner bark reddish brown; sapwood light brown; heartwood dark brown. Flowers with pale yellow corolls (sometimes reddish) and darker yellow hood. Young fruits green.
