Used the Google Maps – What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic center of the city. Used the Google Maps – Measure Distance Tool to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of Arraial do Cabo (expanded the city limits designated by Google to reach to the coast, at: -22.997484, -42.012799). Because the center of the nearest named place, the city of Cabo Frio, is farther from the center of the Arraial do Cabo than the linear extent of Arraial do Cabo itself, followed Case A of "Near a Named Place" of the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool again to approximate the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the approximate geographic center of Cabo do Frio, then halved this distance.
