Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Unable to find the precise location of "Canal da Flecha;" instead, georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of Lagoa Feia in Quissamã, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Used Google Maps – Earth View to locate Lagoa Feia. Used the Google Maps – What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic center of the lake, on the adjacent shore (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the lake, extending this area to encompass some land area adjacent to the lake (at: -22.005701, -41.233551). Input coordinates, coordinate precision (.00001 degrees), coordinate source (locality description), datum (WGS84), linear extent (13490.0 m), and measurement error (5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Defined Area).
