    Dry forest. Quercus oleoides, Pinus caribaea. Scattered. On sandy soil.

  • Description

    PIleus 4-9.5 cm broad, convex to plano-convex to plane, dry finely subtomentose to matted, becoming very finely subareolate (lens), cinnamon brown to light brown to brown (6D6, 6D5, 6D8, 6E8), with even margin. Flesh white, unchanging, with mild odor and taste. Tubes adnexed to deeply depressed, light yellow (3A5), becoming olive to olive brown (3E6, 4E6), unchanging, with pores concolorous, unchanging. Stipe 4.5-10 cm long, 10-18 mm borad, equal to subclavate, sometimes pinched at the base, dry, finely subpruinose, soon becoming longitudinally ridged (not reticulate), pale yellow at apex, light reddish brown (7D6, 7D5), somewhat yellowish near the base, white at the base with white basal mycelium; interior white, unchanging or rarely with brownish pink stains with age. NH4 (+bluish gray, then bright orange yellow on spot and bluish gray around spot).
