Specimen Notes
[ "This species is not known from anywhere on the Platte. 'A beautiful Dalea,' however, is mentioned in the Account on July 26. Barneby, too, noted the reference in the Philadelphia edition of the Account. On July 26 the party traveled up Chacuaco Canyon and a few miles up Bachicha Canyon, Las Animas County, Colorado. There, we think, is where the type (NY) of Dalea formosa was collected." fide Goodman, G. and C. Lawson. Retracing Major Stephen H. Long's 1820 Expedition. University of Oklahoma Press, 1995.
