slope. Open community of Pinus contorta,
Populus tremuloides, with Abies lasiocar-
pa reprod. Also with Symphoricarpos oreo-
philus, Senecio serra, Trisetum spicatum,
Calamagrostis rubescens, and Thalictrum
occidentale. Pits widely scattered in
forest openings; sepals white on adaxial,
white with bluish tinges on the abaxial
surfaces; lower petals dark blue.
