Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of the Estaçao Experimental (research station) Gregório Bondar , located ca. 7 km east of the named place Barrolândia, in Mun. Belmonte, Bahia. Using Google Maps - Text Search and Satellite View, located the place called Barrolândia (-16.101919, -39.273703), and using Google Maps - Measure Distance tool, found a large patch of intact forest approximately 7 km east of Barrolândia. Using Google Maps - Street View, verified the side-road leading to this forest is in fact the entrance to the Estaçao Experimental Gregório Bondar (-16.085467, -39.217360). Using Google Maps - Satellite View & What's Here tool, found coordinates (final) for the approximate geographic center of the Gregório Bondar field station and surrounding forested areas. Using Google Maps - Measure Distance tool, determined linear extent by measuring from the selected final coordinates to the furthest extent of the field station/forest (-16.105679, -39.221343). Input linear extent (1930.5 m), coordinate precision (0.00001 degrees), datum (WGS84), and measurement error (0.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Defined area).
