Specimen Notes
A letter attached to this sheet reads: "Dear Dr. Britton, I found a plant belonging to the Mustard Family growing along the Harrison Turnpike in Hudson County, N.J. It belongs to the Mustard Family and is new to me. It is probably a Riripa and seems close to the Horseradish. I have my books all packed to take to summer camp. Would be pleased to know the name of this plant. I think it is not in the first edition of Britton & Brown. I find dozens of plants of it and it is certainly introduced. Very Truly yours, Oliver P. Medsger." The reply is also attached: "Dear Professor Medsger: Referring to your letter of June 29th, addressed to Dr. N. L. Britton, I would say that the plant which you collected along the Harrison Turnpike and forwarded to us for determination is Lepidium latifolium L. Yours very truly, Associate Curator."
