Lactarius piperatus (L.:Fr.) Pers.
Note: At one time thought to be Agaricus pergamenus (Swartz). Lactaria pargamenus (Fr.) Fries has been reduced to synonymy with Lactarius piperatus (Fr.) S. F. Gray var. piperatus in Hesler & Smith No. Amer. Species of Lactarius 1979 p.185 and Lactarius pergamenus has been reduced to synonymy with Lactarius piperatus (Fr.) S. F. Gray var. glaucescens in Hesler & Smith l.c. p. 187. Dr. Roy E. Halling says to ignore varieties when dealing with these L. piperatus specimens.
