  • Georeferencing Method

    Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to 15 km (Average of 10 and 20 km) along road BA 46 from the city of Iaçu towards Milagres (E), in Mun Iaçu, Bahia. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located BA 46, and the cities of Iaçu and Milagres. Beginning at the point along BA 46 closest to the approximate geographic center of the city of Iaçu (-12.7704113 -40.2052832), used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure approximately 15 km (15.00029 km) along BA 46 towards Milagres (E). Using Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs, found coordinates for the offset. Using Distance Measurement Tool again, found the linear extent of the starting location of the offset, the city of Iaçu, by measuring from the chosen starting coordinates to the farthest extent of the city (-12.7674815 -40.2347338). Input coordinates, linear extent (3.20989 km), distance precision (1 km) and measurement error (0.0005 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Offset: offset along a path). Note: an additional 5000 m was added to the uncertainty output from the MaNIS calculator to account for the 5 km difference between the distance ranges provided on the label and the average distance used for measuring the offset.
