  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to 19 km along BR 415 generally E from the approximate center of the city of Itabuna, in Mun. Itapé, Bahia. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the city of Itabuna, and the road BR 415. Beginning at the point along BR 415 closest to the approximate geographic center of the city of Itabuna (-14.7925592 -39.2823029), used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure approximately 19 km (19.0007 km) W along BR 415. Using Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs found coordinates (final) for the offset. Using Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) again, found the linear extent of the starting location of the offset, the city of Itabuna, by measuring from the chosen starting coordinates alongside BR 415 near the center of the city to the farthest extent of the city (-14.8238323 -39.3120968). Input coordinates, linear extent (4.72984 km), distance precision (1 km), and measurement error (0.0005 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Offset: Offset along a path).
