Georeferenced to the closest point along highway 262 to the center of the small town of Vitor Hugo where highway 262 also lies immediately adjacent to the Rio Jucu Braço Sul, in the state of Espírito Santo. Note: this point near the town of Vitor Hugo is actually found just outside the official boundaries of the Mun. Domingos Martins (Geonames.org), and is technically part of Mun. Marechal Floriano. However, the discrepancy is slight (< 1 km), and the rest of the collection details make sense together, so it was assumed that this was a simple error in municipality assignment on the part of the collector, and georeferenced this collection based on the remaining information in the locality which seems to be correct. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located highway 262 and the small town of Vitor Hugo. Using Google Maps - What's Here tool, found coordinates (final) for the closest point along highway 262 to the center of the small town of Vitor Hugo where highway 262 also lies immediately adjacent to the Rio Jucu Braço Sul. Highway 262 does come close to the Rio Jucu Braço Sul at many other points at a range of further distances from Vitor Hugo, therefore defining the linear extent of Vitor Hugo is important for establishing the uncertainty radius of this collection locality. Unfortunately, the borders of Vitor Hugo are poorly defined, and the nearest named places are so considerably far away that measuring to them and halving that distance to estimate linear extent would greatly exaggerate the real uncertainly. Therefore, used the alternative strategy of arbitrarily assigning 2 km as the linear extent of Vitor Hugo, which seems warranted considering the small size of Vitor Hugo. Input linear extent (2000 m) coordinate precision (0.00001 degrees), datum (WGS84), and measurement error (0.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Near a named place; and the Georeferencing Best Practices Guide, Near a Named Place).
