    Juniperus chinensis L.

  • Collector(s)

    R. C. Ching 53, 10 May 1923-25 May 1923

  • Location

China. Gansu. Ho Lan Shan Mountains.

  • Description

    Phenology of specimen: Flower.

  • Notes (shown on label)

    Male cones present

  • Specimen Notes

Melle annotated this as a Type of Juniperus x media var. plumosa (Hornibr.) Melle. Hornibrook (Dwarf & slow growing conifers p. 66) did not cite any types. It is not clear how Melle justified his selection of a Type of a cultivar based on this specimen from the wild in China. It would imply that the hybrid Juniperus x media is occurring in the wild too.
