    On a steep wooded slope of humus covered more or less stony soil.

  • Description

    Small and slender tree; stem terete, straight, 4 inches thick, 20 or more feet high, branched toward top only; wood very soft, light, white, odorless and without taste, the yellowish brown pith large; bark smooth and yellowish gray, brownish otherwise, the hypodermis greenish; main branches ascending, repeatedly branched, twigs horizontal and nearly luteus or more properly ferrugineus; leaves descending, coriaceous, flat but tips recurved, ferrugineus beneath; inflorescence ascending, also ferrugineous except whitish corolla and red ripe fruits, flowers odorless. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
