Habitat
Primary forest on terra firme. Understory dominated by "caranaí" (Lepidocaryum tenue).

Description
Caespitose palm 3.5 m, stipe 2.7 m x 1.5 cm; leaves 13, palmate, sheath 18 cm long, petiole thin, 68 cm long; inflorescence intrafoliar, peduncle 54 cm long. Use: Leaves valued for thatching houses and other construction in both rural and urban areas.
