SAN FRANCISCO JUNIOR COLLEGE ? OCEAN AND PHELAN AVENUES SAN FRANCISCO 12, CALIFORNIA ?" ' " • 'V July 9, 1949 Dr. David D* Keck, Carnegie Institute of Washington, Stanford University, California Dear sir; We are growing a Pentstemon that is causing us some confusion. I only know it by the name of Garnet King* I believe it is sold by the Page Hill Nursery in your locality under that name also. 0an you inform me concerning the parentage of this Pentstemon? It is our desire to start a e^Heetion of the Pentstemon for our campus. 33iey seem to thrive under our conditions and bio cm for a long time* We have had Garnet King and heterophyllus on the hill for several years un^er conditions that are a trifle rugged, fhey grow well each year and make a fine display. If there áre many others that perfoim as well I feel that they should be brought to the attention of the gardening public. Í am enclosing a small portion of the Pentstemon Garnet King for your inspection. Should you wish more we have ample availa- ble. Yery truly yours^, Harry B^ielson, Division of Horticulture, On February 12, 1948, the name of the College was changed ’Officially ’to dll' (011K(.I OF SAN FRANCISCO NEW YORK BOTANICAL GjARDBN 00773076 No. rso.
