Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the closest forested area to the approximate geographic center of the barrio of Manguinhos (found along the road from Vitoria to Jacaraípe), in Mun. Serra, Espírito Santo. Using Google Maps - Text Search and Satellite View, located Manguinhos exactly in the position where it is said to be found in the locality. Using Google Maps - What's Here tool, found coordinates (final) for the closest forested area to the approximate geographic center of Manguinhos. Because the boundaries of Manguinhos are clearly defined (shape is visible when searched for in Google Maps) used Google Maps - Measure Distance tool to determine the linear extent by measuring a straight line from the selected final coordinates near the center of Manguinhos to the farthest extent of Manguinhos (-20.182436, -40.191319). Input linear extent (1969.5 m), coordinate precision (0.00001 degrees), datum (WGS84), and measurement error (0.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Best Practices Guide, Named Place: Defined area).
